“Therefore, since we have these promises, dear friends, let us purify ourselves from everything that contaminates body and spirit, perfecting holiness out of reverence for God.”
Thought for Today
One of the classic movie themes is the good woman who falls in love with a scoundrel and, because of her unconditional love, makes him want to be a better man. Have you ever wondered why that theme resonates so well generation after generation? Could it be because our hearts recognize that as the kind of love that God pours out on us? God’s love and care are not dependent upon your performance. God keeps His promises simply because that is His nature and He thinks you are worth loving even when you are the scoundrel. In response to God’s unconditional love for us our hearts love to be a better men and women. Holy living is not a condition for God’s love but the hearts natural response to it.
Prayer
Gracious Father, thank You for the gift of Your unconditional love. Help me to show You my gratitude by the way I live my life before You today. Amen.
