The Church Fathers on the Trinity (St. Irenaeus and St. Cyril)
DIVINE MIND - God the Father is The Supreme Consciousness that truly and fully knows Himself. The Doctrine of the Trinity follows as such…
Logos - When a man knows himself, he begets a thought, an image of his consciousness: this is his logos. As he comes to know himself more, his self-image expands, in accordance with his awareness. His self-image is a reflection of his awareness. Proverbs 23:7, “As a man thinks, in his heart he is.”
LOGOS OF GOD - Now God is infinite and not limited as man is and therefore knows His whole being. All that He is, He knows. His whole being is reflected in His Logos: “the image of God.”
THE SON OF GOD: This image of God we call Wisdom in the Holy Scriptures or the Logos of God or the Image of God (the Image of His being). He is the only-begotten Son of God before all ages! Begotten of the Father before all ages. Light of Light; true God of true God; begotten, not made; of one essence with the Father, by whom all things were made (John 1:1; 16:5; Hebrews 1:3; 1 Corinthians 1:24; Colossians 1:15; Rev. 19:13; Wisdom 7:26). He’s the exact imprint of the Father’s hypostasis.
THE SPIRIT OF GOD - The means by which The Father knows His Logos is His Divine Energy, His Grace, His Holy Spirit! 1 Corinthians 2:11, “No one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God.”
Father = Knower
Son = Known
Spirit = Knowing
