I spent some time in MN over winter break with my family and it had been a while since I had been up to my parents’ house over Christmas.
I was reminded of the BEAUTY and the quiet of small town MN. Now, was it cold? YUP! Was there snow? SO SO SO much snow! But there was something about being away from the city, the noise, the traffic, and the people that quieted my heart and my soul again and made me look around and admire the beauty of winter that God created.
I was reminded of how God truly created nature for our pleasure and good as my children shrieked and giggled as they went sledding, built massive snow forts, threw snowballs, and went sliding on the frozen lake.
I was reminded of how God designed us and loves us so uniquely as each snowflake that was falling was individually made and different from one another.
I was reminded of how important it was to be silent in order to listen for God’s voice as I sat in the quiet and looked out at the scenery.
I was reminded of God’s immense power as the weather and temperature dropped where I was at, raining where you all were at, and blazing hot temperatures where I have family at. Isn’t God amazing?
If you find yourself at a stalemate with God, losing sight of what’s important, getting caught up in the busyness of life, I encourage you to step away. For a time, for a day, for an afternoon. Step away with the intentionality of looking for God and feeling his presence. Notice God in all the tiny minute details of the world we live in and then praise his name for all that he has created and all that he has done.
“O Lord, you are my God; I will exalt you; I will praise your name, for you have done wonderful things, plans formed of old, faithful and sure.”
