God calls us to be a generous people because we are to be like Him who has displayed ultimate generosity. What do we have that He hasn’t given us? Our very life is a gift from Him. Our gift back to Him is what we do with it.
There are certain principles that God established from the beginning of time and they are more true than the law of gravity. Jesus reiterated this particular principle in Proverbs when He said in Luke 6:38, “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full - pressed down, shaken to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.”
We can operate in God’s kingdom economy that is backed by the word of the King, being Jesus, and filled with abundance, or we can operate in the world’s system and economy that is filled with risk and run by satan. Jesus said the He had come to give us life and life abundantly whereas the devil had come to steal, kill and destroy. Which kingdom would we rather operate in? The choice is ours.
Just as nations have laws that guide their land, constitutions if you will, so does the Kingdom of God. The Bible is its constitution and to operate freely in it, we must be familiar with it. Why not take some time each day to become familiar with the inheritance left to you by the King of kings? You will not ever regret that decision.
