The word ‘discipline is all throughout Proverbs and is a key character trait needed to be successful. To learn, we must love discipline because it takes discipline to learn. And I don’t know any of us who likes to be corrected but we should treasure those willing to take the time to point something out to us. We all have blind spots and if we are willing to listen to others, we will be better off because of it.
Up until recently, I used to think people were inherently good, maybe misguided or confused at times, but that there was good in everyone. But it has become very clear that there are people who plan wickedness. These people aren’t just caught up in sin, they live for it. They have sold their souls to the devil and make it their business to steal, kill, and destroy, just like their father, the devil. Jesus ran into such people in His day as well and called them out. It didn’t make Him the most popular which is why they wanted to kill Him. The Lord condemns such people.
Wickedness never brings stability because it is goes against everything God is. To choose wickedness is to choose to be an enemy of God and that person’s days are numbered. The godly, however, have deep roots that keep them stable through the storms of life. Their anchor is fastened to God who is never moved and because they are latched on to Him, they shall not be moved.
God is the only One who brings chaos to order. It will happen one way or another. Either the wicked get it right or they will be removed. Not my words…His!
