January 1, 2025, Read Genesis 1:1–3:24 When we confess our sin, God forgives us — even sad confessions like, "She made me do it." Take note that there are still consequences for sin, like being driven from the garden to work hard for the rest of one's life. In this reading God, for the first time, makes an atonement for human sin. In Genesis 3:21, he makes clothing from animal skin for Adam and Eve. This covering of their nakedness — or rather, of their sin of disobedience to God's command — is the first blood sacrifice.
