Today in our Chronological reading of the Bible we wrapped up the book of Job, which we began reading after we had read Genesis 1-11, and tomorrow will pick back up in Genesis with Abraham in chapter 12. I thought it would be good to give a little backdrop on the reason Job finds itself interspersed at that particular spot. First, a Chronological Bible looks at the evidence within the text or at times from outside Biblical sources to reach a decision on when to place a particular portion. It isn't always an exact date, but does try to reflect as much as possible an approximate time frame for when the various events happened. Some of the places, events and names in the book of Job makes it likely that Job was alive at the time of the Patriarchs, (Abraham, Isaac, etc.) As it mentions Uz as the land where Job lived and we see that connected with Shem, one of Noah's sons. So, it's likely Job was either shortly before or during the time of Abraham, which is why we took a break from Genesis and read the book of Job the last week or so. While I'm at it, my apologies on not listing the readings for this past week here, because I had intended to, but forgot to do so. They are in the newsletter and I also put them in the weekly bulletin, but I do plan to include them here each week as well. Here is the next week or so...
