John reassures believers that they are forgiven, known by God, and already overcomers through Christ. He reminds “children,” “young men,” and “fathers” that their salvation is secure because of Jesus, not their performance. God has written His truth on their hearts, giving experiential confidence that withstands doubt and spiritual attack. Because they know Him, they can resist the world’s pull—the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life. The world is passing away, but those who do God’s will abide forever.
