Rashad Cunningham
- I received this book in the midst of my own "wilderness" . It really puts suffering and persecution in "perspective". As someone who adores Tim Keller I was thankful for his introduction as well. A statement that lands hard is how they speak of "The way of the Cross" ... I think overall, this shows that COMFORT may be our greatest idol... because COMFORT is the enemy of "The way of the Cross"
- I enjoyed this book. As someone who feels we as a church tend to focus on the "inside" of the body more than teaching the inside to reach out, this book shows the overall view of a GOD who has called us to be on mission. There is a statement made that summarizes the approach of this book "God's mission is on every page of Scripture."
- I received this as a book reviewer for Lexham, so I got it for free, but I am not required to post a positive review. In other words... these are just my thoughts (lol). I am a pastor who loves the "context" of Scripture that requires us to look underneath the Scriptures themselves. This book has allowed me to see some insights that allow me to think more deeply of what the Scriptures meant to the original audience, or even better understand the descriptions of particular text from the author's perspective. This has become a go to for me ensuring I am not overlooking anything due to my "American Eyes"! Really enjoying it so far!
