• This was my textbook when I taught a group of homeschool high school students. I chose it above 10 other texts. It is easy to follow, comprehensive, clear, and provides a process for constructing a speech anyone can use. One student read it through and constructed an incredible speech all on his own. Highly recommended!
    1. Today I am purchasing the book, having read approximately 50% of a hard copy obtained from the seminary library. Block writes clearly while demonstrating the wealth of knowledge he has acquired over his lifetime of study. I agree with another commentator that this book is a "must for anyone's library." I found Block's insightful analysis so useful that I bit the bullet and passed up on some great bargain prices of other books to purchase it. I too wish that Logos reconsider its policy of publishing low ratings without requiring reasons for the rating. I also prefer comments for high ratings since it provides me the opportunity to know if I want to purchase a book for those reasons. With that in mind let me offer a few short concrete reasons why I am purchasing the book. 1. Block makes a powerful case for considering worship in the First Testament and applying lessons from it for today. 2. He uses multiple figures and Tables throughout the book to clarify confusing concepts (consider "Asymmetrical Temporal Gradations of Holiness on p. 273!). 3. After identifying the worship concepts and explaining them, Block offers clear suggestions for implementation in our personal and corporate worship with a clear rationale for each suggestion. 4. I found each chapter a rich banquet satisfying my hunger to understand worship.
