Narration seems fine, but it should be clearer that this is a severely abridged version - it mentions 'edited for the modern reader' but, looking at how thick the original is and how this version is about 4 hours long, that must mean that most of the book has been cut out.

Really disappointing book. No real logic or argument, just a bunch of assertions and allusions, even when his position is very... Unusual. Dismisses vast swathes of Reformed tradition and the church fathers with nothing more than a caricature, and often a wildly misleading one.

I was a bit disappointed with this... It seems to contain decent advice, but it covers so few commentaries for each book that it leaves out books that are widely considered top recommendations. It's very different from Carson's older volume, which gives a rounded picture of what's available (though sadly a few years out of date now) in that it feels much more like 'Nijay Gupta's commentary picks' than a 'New Testament Commentary Guide'. The subtitle says it's brief, but for the price I didn't expect it to be this brief.
