- First off, my rating is based on what is POSSIBLE with Logos 8 Silver, which is extensive. My own usage is just now starting to take off as I become more familiar with the software and its' capabilities. Is this expensive? You bet it is, but speaking strictly for myself I've spent more on far less valuable things in my life, You have to remember that this is the sort of package you grow into, and since it exceeds almost anyone's needs you cannot therefore not accomplish your goals as a student of God's word. That is the value of this package in the end, and it is in this light incalculable. As for what I am using it for. mainly at this point to read the bible completely, using study notes from several sources to augment my own understanding of what I am studying. The ability to have this installed and/or available on my home computer, my laptop, my work computer and my smart device is HUGE in my opinion as these all sync without any real effort on my part. So if I start my study at home and it runs longer than I anticipated, I can pick it up again over my lunch hour, for example. Also, the new note taking mechanism is SO much better than in Logos 7 (at least when I was using it). It was very unwieldy before, but now it is far easier to organize and find your notes -- kudos to the Faithlife programmers there. One minor niggle though...when I use the Passage Guide, it invariably brings up references to products I don't own and that the bump me to the "Buy It" page for that reference. While I'm not against this totally, it would be nice if there was an option somewhere to only reference library items I already own because it would cut down on rabbit hole chases. If that exists already, my apologies and I humbly request that someone school me on where it is :)
- This is an exciting package of books and study material for Christians who want to really understand the Bible, the people of the Bible and most importantly why we should care. Reading a study Bible is fine for many, but it is rather one dimensional. By contrast, studying God's word with Logos is more of a there dimensional experience where anything you don't readily understand can be thoroughly explained in a few clicks and searches. It's really quite amazing.
