Thomas
Servant of the Lord
- True with wescott and hort being the backbone of all other translations I'll stick with the one I've understood since I was a child. I don't need a devil worshipper to have translated the bible for me of the least of all codex's really I just can't believe this is still so promoted with the background other translations carry. The history is out there for all to plainly see that is those who have eyes to see and ears to hear.
- My friend, the New King James Version and the Modern English Version both use the same underlying Hebrew and Greek texts as the King James. And they translate those texts into fully intelligible contemporary English, which means they meet the principle of 1 Corinthians 14, edification requires intelligibility. I recommend the NKJV and MEV to you.
- What in the world are you talking about?
- Rev. Cromwell, I'm fairly certain that Thomas is referring to the misinformation promoted by GA Riplinger in her book 'New Age Bible Translations' that BF Wescott of the infamous duo "Wescott and Hort" was an occultist. Example: She urges the reader to confuse BF Wescott, with an actual occultist WW Westcott. This misinformation is often used in textual absolutist circles to defend the KJB against all modern versions. (Thanks Mark Ward for the term "textual absolutism").
