• This commentary is a precious gem! Most commentaries do one thing well. This one does three! 1.) Offers exegetical insights into the hebrew text itself. This is a wonderful exegetical tool for it's attention to literary design, careful attention to the eastern context, and insights into the original hebrew (though not as in depth into the original Hebrew as other commentaries). It's a good middle ground between practical theology commentaries and exegetical commentaries 2.) Offers a respectful eastern and Muslim perspective that does not shy away from points of difference but also tries to focus on areas of overlap. The longer I am exposed to Islam, the more I have come to see that in many ways Islamic thought and theology has understood the Hebrew Bible better than modern evangelicalism. We have much to learn by paying attention to areas of overlap and critical differences between the Hebrew Bible and Islamic Theology. 3.) Offers an under-represented voice and perspective from South Asia. His insights from his own culture are sharp and unique and extremely refreshing. This has quickly become one of my favorite commentaries on the Genesis 1-11! The proof of it's value is this: I own a physical copy, I have bought it on Kindle, and I bought it again on Logos!
