  • Willing to Wait      Scripture: Psalm 37:7 Introduction: Who started the rumor that we measure spirituality by excitement, enthusiasm, emotionalism and energy? The Bible suggests that sometimes spirituality is measured by quietness and by the willingness to wait on God. 1.   The Admonition. First, waiting implies submission to God’s Word. Second, it involves submission to God’s will. Rather than murmurs or complaints, there should be a silent and quiet acquiescence to His will. It also requires submission to God’s ways. 2.   The Assurance. Waiting on God results in prosperity (Lam. 3:25, 26), divine protection (Prov. 20:22), divine power (Isa. 40:31), and divine perception (Ps. 25:3–5). Divine peace surrounds those who wait patiently for the Lord (Job 14:14; Ps. 52:9). 3.   The Accomplishments. Waiting on the Lord hones personal discipline, development and dependence on the Lord. Human abilities are insufficient to accomplish the Lord’s work. Conclusion: Perhaps you have a situation about which you’ve grown impatient. God may be trying to teach you the secret of Psalm 37:7.
    1. Please pray for Nani Chrimes' sister-in-law who was taken to the hospital after experience pain during her dialysis treatment yesterday. Also keep her husband (my youngest brother) in your prayers as he is not allowed to visit her. He is not only her husband but her caregiver for the last 2 years after a life changing heart attack. This will be a very challenging time for both of them. They love the Lord with all their hearts and know He will get them through this. Thank you.
        1. Praise Him! This Lord's Supper has been so meaningful and I thank God for this church fellowship. May you all be blessed and have an opportunity this week to share the love of God with someone either by speaking the Truth or showing that you are a child of God. Hugs, Nani
        1. Please be in prayer for these specific requests along with your own prayer needs this week. In Christ, P. Dean
        1. Pastor Dean, As ALWAYS, thank you for your "enlightening" message. The NIV study bible has a very thought provoking comment (at least to me) on Luke 14:34 regarding salt and I would like to share it. "Salt can loose its flavor. Many Christians blend into the world and avoid the cost of standing up for Christ. But Jesus says if Christians loose their distinctive saltiness, they become worthless. Just as salt flavors and preserves food, we are to preserve the good in the world, help keep it from spoiling, and bring new flavor to life. This requires careful planning, willing sacrifice, and unswerving commitment to Christ's kingdom. Being "salty" is not easy, but if a Christian fails in this function, he or she fails to represent Christ in the world. How salty are you?" I will pray this week that I and my fellow Christians will truly be the salt in Christ's kingdom In Christian love, Glenda
      1. Friday Devotion Our devotion to God The way we show gratitude to God for his blessings is by being devoted to him, and the way we show devotion to him is by obeying his Word, holding fast to him and loving him above everything else. And let us never forget the connection the Lord Jesus made between loving him and keeping his commandments (John 14:23). God’s devotion to chastisement God is so devoted to his people that he is unwilling to let them slide into behaviour that is harmful to them. He has obligated himself to chastise his people when they need it. This chastisement is not because he is mean or cruel. The author of Hebrews says it is ‘for our profit, that we may be partakers of His holiness’ (Heb. 12:10). The same author writes, ‘Now no chastening seems to be joyful for the present, but painful; nevertheless, afterward it yields the peaceable fruit of righteousness to those who have been trained by it’ (Heb. 12:11). The devil argues that bad is good and good is bad, but God knows what is good for us, and is determined to work towards it.
