Willing to Wait
Scripture: Psalm 37:7
Introduction: Who started the rumor that we measure spirituality by excitement, enthusiasm, emotionalism and energy? The Bible suggests that sometimes spirituality is measured by quietness and by the willingness to wait on God.
1. The Admonition.
First, waiting implies submission to God’s Word. Second, it involves submission to God’s will. Rather than murmurs or complaints, there should be a silent and quiet acquiescence to His will. It also requires submission to God’s ways.
2. The Assurance.
Waiting on God results in prosperity (Lam. 3:25, 26), divine protection (Prov. 20:22), divine power (Isa. 40:31), and divine perception (Ps. 25:3–5). Divine peace surrounds those who wait patiently for the Lord (Job 14:14; Ps. 52:9).
3. The Accomplishments.
Waiting on the Lord hones personal discipline, development and dependence on the Lord. Human abilities are insufficient to accomplish the Lord’s work.
Conclusion: Perhaps you have a situation about which you’ve grown impatient. God may be trying to teach you the secret of Psalm 37:7.
