The funeral for Harold Jernigan will be held at Rose and Graham Funeral Home in Coats, NC on Monday, July 12,at 2 PM. The funeral will follow visitation where family will receive friends from 1:00-1:45 PM. Mr. Harold was casual, and so the dress for the funeral is encouraged to be casual - as in, church casual (as in khakis and a nice shirt). Please be in prayer for the family during these days of beautiful memories mixed with sorrow and loss. We do not grieve, though, as those who have no hope - Harold is with Jesus! Please pray for my (former) stepmother, Patricia Dillon, whose dear husband, Wayne, went to be with the Lord on Sunday. Wayne passed out at the end of his Sunday School class at Fuquay-Varina Baptist Church and never regained consciousness, dying at Rex Hospital on Sunday afternoon. Wayne was a dear man who loved the Lord and loved his family, of which we were blessed to be counted, even though we were not direct relations. The funeral will be at FV Baptist Church at 11:30 on Wednesday morning after visitation at 10 AM. Thank you for praying for Patricia and family during these days following sudden loss.

GCC Family: The text for Sunday's sermon is Ephesians 6:1-4. The title of the message is "Maturity by Design." The sermon is about life in the Christian household. I will be speaking directly to children, to teenagers, and to young adults. I would encourage you to make sure your children hear this message. If you will be live-streaming at home, please make sure your children are with you. And parents - do not worry, there will be a word for you. It will be God's word, not mine! See you Sunday, Lord willing!

Good Friday morning, Grace Family! As you prepare for the sermon on Sunday titled, "Marriage by Design," from Ephesians 5:22-33, I want to ask you to read two chapters in the Bible that may seem to have little to do with the text or topic. Oh, but Scripture intricately and divinely blends the individual parts into the most spectacular whole of God's design! Would you first read Hebrews 11 - all of it - to recall that any suffering the Lord may call us to endure is well worth the cost? Then, I would encourage you to take the time to read Psalm 33 and when you come to verse 12 - "Blessed is the nation whose God is the LORD" think "church" or "people" instead of "America."When you come to verse 17, think "political party/movements" instead of "war horse." God is good to his people! Rejoice, brothers and sisters, in his presence as he brings glory to himself through us in these late days!

Grace Family - In preparation for Sunday's sermon, I would like to encourage you to read Matthew 11:1-12:21. I am planning (Lord willing)  to preach from Matthew 11:25-30 on Sunday and reading both Jeffrey Gibbs and DA Carson - it is almost too much! The beautiful truth in Jesus that is intertwined with OT expectations and the Day of Judgment to come - oh to be with the gentle and lowly (in heart) Jesus, who is also the Lord of the Sabbath!

              1. YouVersion Bible app has several read the Bible in a year plans as well. I did a chronological one a couple of years ago, I really liked it. In 2021 I am doing the Tear Up Your Bible plan. I'm really excited to read through the whole bible again in 2021.
              2. Tricia Jicinsky is still continuing tho behind in doing this from 2020.

Norma Callahan - with the Lord. Founding member and lover of both Jesus and Grace Community Church, dear Norma Callahan is now with the Lord. Many of you did not know Norma, but you must know that both Max and Norma Callahan were part of the reason the gospel witness is alive and strong at Grace Community Church today. Details about services for Norma will be posted when known.
              1. This brings tears of JOY as I thank God for Max & Norma and that she is finally restored in body and mind and in the presence of her Savior and with Max, the love of her life that she dearly missed. What a beautiful couple who were so hospitable, fervent in sharing the gospel and feeding many college students and prayer warriors for GCC! What lives well loved for His glory! Praying for Ms Norma’s family!
              2. Thanks for Norma’s life and Max’s and their stable presence in the GCC family throughout the years.
              3. I remember Norma and Max from when I very first began attending Grace. Such sweet folks. They always welcomed me every week.

Sunday Service: Dear brothers and sisters at Grace, if you have been thinking about not attending one of our two services on Sunday because of our mask policies, may I urge you to reconsider? Our text, 1 John 4:7-21, will speak to our collective heart about love for one another, and please do not draw a conclusion about how it will be presented. We are trying to make sense of this issue just as all churches are. Some churches lean strongly one way or another, but we have differences of opinion about masks - and, it is still true that God has called us and put us together to worship and serve him in the Kingdom. We can weather this storm! Whether you wear a mask (required in the first service) or not (highly recommended in the second service, but please come anyway if you have a health issue or a spiritual conviction against masks), please come on Sunday - and do not judge those who disagree with you. This pandemic will be over, in time, but a fracture in our ranks will long outlive the pandemic. Let us give thanks to the Father for his inexpressible gift of Jesus, and let us love one another, even in our differences of opinion.
              1. Good sermon Pastor Brad. Paul and appreciated you addressing this and also how we in the church are to love each other. Also praying That your wife’s surgery goes well. We will miss you Christmas Eve.
