INVITATION TO A JOURNEY
When you visit Harvest Community Baptist, it is our hope that you find a place of belonging, a place where people gather to worship God, share their lives, and help each other to grow and live life to it’s fullest. In this, we believe that we can not live this out without being committed to preaching and teaching God’s word.
The reason for this is we know that in our world today, there are many different and contradictory beliefs and philosophies. With that, we also see just as much diversity of beliefs and philosophies among Christians and church groups.
So the question often comes up, who is right when there are clear contradictions between beliefs, philosophies, and systems of theology? What is the final authority? Popes, bishops, priests, or pastors? Scholars and academics?
For us, the answer is simple. We go to the source. While we may be incorrect in our interpretation, we do not look to the experts as the final authority. We also do not even ascribe to a particular systematic theology.
Instead, we go to scripture as the final authority, understanding that the 66 books of the Bible were written, compiled, and edited by middle easterners from 1400s BC to AD 90 and it covers history going back to sometime before 6000 BC.
With this, we invite you to join us as we explore the stories, the poetry, the wisdom passages, books of prophecy, and the personal letters that make up the 66 books of the Bible. Even if you do not think, as we do, that all 66 books of the Bible are authoritative for our lives, we invite you to join us anytime as we explore the length and breadth of the Bible.
Some of this will take place during our Sunday worship services. Some of it will take place in Sunday School and in Bible studies throughout the week. It is also my hope that this takes place in conversations and over coffee as we discuss what we learn and the insights we find in the text inspired by God and written down by middle-easterners who like us, sought out a relationship with the God who created the Universe.
As we explore the Bible, please know that you will be welcomed by friendly people here who love children and enjoy good food and fellowship often. If you have any questions, please feel free to call or email us anytime.
