Sunday 11-17-2024 Pastor Kennard Weever Theme: Raising the Standards Series: Friendsgiving Sermon: Time Served Scripture: Jeremiah 29:10-15   Time Served is often connected to a prisoner who has been incarcerated, isolated, exiled, or in captivity. There is a price for everything. If you do the crime, you must do the time.   Are you in a situation that you don’t like? You may not like the punishment, but God will put you in a place of oppression to hide you and protect you. God controls your place of oppression.   All of us have an agitation. God determines WHO or WHAT will be an agitator for you. He assigned these agitators (the people and things that you have been facing or crying over) to you. Sometimes you can be an agitator to yourself or to someone else. Agitations can’t kill you. Agitations can exist to develop you and to draw you closer to God.   We use washing machines to clean dirty clothes. With every hit and attack, you are getting cleaned. God has plans for you. When you seek and find God, you will abide in Him. He will show up in your mess and allow things to bypass you. Sunday 11-10-2024 Pastor Kennard Weever Theme: Raising the Standards Series: Friendsgiving Sermon: You don’t like it, but I love it Scriptures: Jeremiah 29:1-32   “You don’t like it, but I love it” is a common saying used by young people. They may love it on you or love it for you, but they would never select your choice.   The Children of Israel neglected their first love (God). They practiced idolatry and listened to false prophets. God sent them into exile, Babylonian Captivity, for seventy years. They didn’t like it, but he loved it. Where God placed them wasn’t punishment, but preparation.   God knew the plans that he had for the Children of Israel. God instructed the prophet Jeremiah to write a letter to the Israelite captives exiled in Babylon. God instructed the Israelite captives to build houses, plant gardens, get married, and have children. The Israelite captives learned to become comfortable in Babylon.   God is a God of Purpose. He is up to something with us. He knows the plans that he has for us. What has happened to us or what we are dealing with is not punishment, but preparation. We don’t like it, but God loves it. Sunday 11-3-2024 Pastor Kennard Weever Theme: Transformation Forward Series: Raising the Standard-Friendsgiving Sermon: It Matters How You Start Scripture: Jeremiah 29:10-11   It matters how you start. When you wake up in the morning, your first battle is the clutter inside your mind. How did you start your day or week? How did you start your walk with the Lord? What are God’s plans for your life?   The Children of Israel served other gods (idolatry) and listened to false prophets. False prophets claimed that the captivity period wouldn’t last long. The Children of Israel were in captivity for seventy years.   God was involved with their seventy years in captivity. God instructed the prophet Jeremiah to write a letter to the Israelite captives exiled in Babylon. Jeremiah’s letter was about God’s plan. God’s plan was to prosper them, not to harm (punish) them. God instructed the captives to build houses, plant gardens, get married, and have children.   God knew the plans that he had for them. He also knows about the plans that he has for us. God has plans to prosper us. He still loves us even when we do wrong, and he has to punish us. Sometimes what looks like punishment is really God’s protection.   IT matters how you start. Sometimes God has to hide us in circumstances in order to save us. God assigned IT to you. He can fix IT, but you will be in IT for a minute. He has to break you so he can use you and elevate you. IT may hurt, but you must make yourself comfortable and at home.   It matters what you do while you are waiting. What are doing with the time in between stuff or worship? It is not the season of complaining. It is the season for worship. God understands your worship.
