DEVOTION - THE SOURCE
Today we stand at a threshold of the unknown. We don’t know what we will find. We don't know what new experiences, changes or needs will come our way. Even with the uncertainty before us, we have a cheerful and comforting message from
our heavenly Father. “The Lord your God cares. For the eyes of the Lord are continually on (it) from the beginning of the year to the end.” Deuteronomy 11:11-12
The Lord is to be our Source of supply. In Him are springs, fountains and streams that will never be cut off or run dry. To those who are anxious, comes the gracious promise of our heavenly Father: If He is the Source of our mercies, mercy will never fail us.
“No heat or drought can dry the rivers whose streams make glad the city of God.” Psalm 46:4
“Yet for us there is one God the Father, who is the Source of all things.” 1 Corinthians 8:6
My help comes from the Lord, the Maker of heaven and earth.” Psalm 121: 2
God is our Source! Sound easier to say than believe? When it comes to standing in faith for things we know that we need to survive or want so desperately, the battle is on. Satan is waiting in the wings to convince you that God isn’t going to meet those needs. He will tell you that God doesn’t want to help you or that He won’t make it in time. These are lies, lies and more lies.
The truth? I'll say it again, God is your Source! He is the perfect and on-time Source for everything you could ever need or want! But, you have to receive Him as your one and only Source by faith. The word of God will renew our minds, feed our faith, and get us to where we need to be to receive. It is a place where every need we have is completely met. If you allow it, God will be the Source for your
every need.
Our lives will have valleys and hills. If life were always level how boring would that be? It’s in the difficult times that we are driven to the throne room of grace that brings showers of blessings. It is the cold and seemingly barren times of our lives that we question and complain about that brings down the showers.
God’s word is clear that believers are not to be given over to anxiety. But it’s not simply a cold, abrupt command to stop worrying. Scripture states that we shouldn’t focus on the plans, needs and uncertainties of tomorrow, but it is clear about where our focus should be instead. This is what Jesus said to His followers, and the same instructions hold true for us today:
“Seek first His kingdom and His righteousness, and all these things will be added to you.” Matthew 6:33
“Fear not for I am with you; be not dismayed for I am your God. I will strengthen you. Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.” -Isaiah 41:10
We cannot see what blessings or trials the future holds. We only need to keep our eyes on the Father, because we trust in Him. “You will keep in perfect peace those whose minds are steadfast, because they trust in me.” Isaiah 26:3
Do not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus…And my God will meet all your needs according to his glorious riches in Christ Jesus. Philippians 4:6-7, 19
Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need. Hebrews 4:16
