The Rapture & Bride of Christ | El Rapto y la Novia de Cristo
"In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto Myself; that where I am, the you may be also." (John 14:2-3)
In the Jewish culture, the engagement period was taken very seriously. So seriously in fact, that it took a divorce to break the engagement. During the engagement period, which usually lasted a year, the bride to be and groom lived apart and remained faithful and chaste. During their time apart, the groom-to-be would prepare a place for them at his family's residence. Quite often by adding a room onto his father's house. At the end of the engagement period, the groom would come for his bride; and, after the wedding ceremony, take his bride to the place at his father's house that he had prepared for them.
The rapture rescues the Church before the tribulation period
II Thessalonians 2:1-8
"not to be soon shaken in mind or troubled, either by spirit or by word or by letter, as if from us, as though the day of Christ had come.
Let no one deceive you by any means; for that day will not come unless the falling away comes first, and the man of sin is revealed, the son of perdition. (verses 2-3)
And now you know what is restraining, that he may be revealed in his own time. For the mystery of lawlessness is already at work; only He who now restrains will do so until He is taken out of the way. And then the lawless one will be revealed, whom the Lord will consume with the breath of His mouth and destroy with the brightness of His coming." (verses 6-8)
In this passage, Paul is giving the timing of the revealing of "the man of sin", the "prince" that was to appear during the horrific seventieth "week" of Daniel's vision; and, the Lord's subsequent second coming. We see that this man of sin could not come until "what is restraining", which is a "what" or a thing in verse 6 and a "He" in verse 7, is "taken out of the way." It is clear that the "He" is the Holy Spirit that convicts the world of sin (John 16:8); and, it only follows that the "what" or thing is the Church, whose members are indwelt by the Holy Spirit forever. (John 14:16, Ephesians 1:13-14) When the Spirit goes, believers/the Church must also go with Him!... as we are not appointed to the wrath of the seventieth week. Just like the Lord spared faithful Noah from His wrath and the flood and spared and rescued Lot from His wrath at the destruction of Sodom and Gomorrah, the Lord will also spare and rescue the Church from the "wrath of the Lamb" during the seventieth week as well, which is justified and saved from wrath through Christ.
The Bride of Christ
The Church Is The Bride of Christ
Ephesians 5:22-32
"For the husband is the head of the wife, even as Christ is the head of the church: and He is the savior of the body. (verse 23)
Husbands, love your wives even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it. (verse 25)
For we are members of His body, of His flesh, and of His bones. For this cause shall a man leave his father and mother, and shall be joined unto his wife, and they two shall be one flesh. This is a great mystery: but I speak concerning Christ and the church." (verses 30-2)
In this passage, we are given God's view of the marriage relationship, and that the husband is head of the wife, just as Christ is head of the church. As the passage closes, verse 30 refers to the church as members of Christ's body; and, in verse 31, refers back to Genesis 2:24, where a husband and wife are described as being one flesh. In verse 32, this "one flesh" marriage relationship is applied directly to Christ and the church.
The Wedding Feast of the Lamb
Revelation 19:5-9
"And a voice came out of the throne, saying, Praise our God, all you His servants, and you that fear Him, both small and great.
And I heard as it were the voice of a great multitude, and as the voice of many waters, and as the voice of mighty thunderings, saying, Alleluia: for the Lord God omnipotent reigns, Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honor to Him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and His wife has made herself ready.
And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of the saints.
And he said unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb And he said unto me, These are the true sayings of God."
To further reinforce the church's not having to go through the tribulation period, we are given a glimpse into the marriage feast of the Lamb, which occurs in heaven, just prior to Christ's return to put an end to antichrist and the horrific seventieth "week".
While we are indeed in the last days and may be witnessing the "setting of the stage" for the arrival of the antichrist: it is clear, from Scripture, that the rapture will occur before the tribulation period begins.
