Take 5 minutes today and watch this video about Divine anger. We talked a lot about human anger in Jonah, but Divine anger is a topic often misunderstood, and that misunderstanding often has large implications in our spiritual life.
Video: Character of God: Slow to Anger | BibleProject™
What does it mean to say that God is slow to anger? In the Bible, God’s anger is a just response to human evil, which is motivated by God’s justice and love. In this video, we’ll explore God’s anger and justice in the biblical story.

Pretty good explanation. I would say, as John does in his epistle, that God IS love, and therefore any other character traits flow out of (and are subservient to) that. In other words - to answer the oft asked question - God does something because it is good, rather than something is good because God did it.
