In today's reading, John 6:1-14, the disciples were disheartened when Jesus told them to feed the crowd. The task seemed impossible, overwhelming. As you read, let me invite you to consider a time when you felt disheartened because of the size of the task you faced. Then, as you reflect on that task, I want you to consider a person or a group of people who came alongside you to help you with that task. Consider how the actions of a little boy gave these disciples hope and faith. Is there someone who caused a fire to be kindled within you because of their action or words? Reflect on this quote from Albert Schweitzer and offer a prayer of thanks for that person or persons who sparked a flame within for you.
