therefore, I will hope in him!” (Lamentations 3:22-24)
Lamentations is a book written to mourn the destruction of Jerusalem by the Babylonians in 586 BC. It is a tough book to read because of the sorrow it conveys. However, when you get to chapter 3, the tone changes. It is a magnificent chapter filled with faith and positive instruction (go ahead and read that chapter).
Literally in the midst of the ruins, Jeremiah holds on to the truth that God is faithful. He knows that the wounds from the Lord are designed to draw us back to Him. He also reminds himself that the only thing He needs is His relationship with the Lord. He is the inheritance we should seek.
As you look around at the world, you may see a lot of conflict and rubble. However, the Lord will bring you out of that rubble. He does not give up on people. If you turn to Him you will find He is right where He has always been, standing before you with open arms.
Faithfulness 7.1.22
22 “The faithful love of the LORD never ends!*
His mercies never cease.
23 Great is his faithfulness;
his mercies begin afresh each morning.
24 I say to myself, “The LORD is my inheritance;
therefore, I will hope in him!” (Lamentations 3:22-24)
