Hi crew. If you haven't already grabbed one. I'll have the books again this Sunday. You will have a little catching up to do but don't stress - the chapters are pretty short.
For those that have started reading. How are you finding it.
I found this quote encouraging,
That’s why we’re here: to behold. To set our sights on a higher love. To see who Adam hid from, who the psalmists sang to, who the prophets spoke for, who the disciples walked with, and who Jesus made known.
Perry, Jackie Hill. Holier Than Thou (p. 8). B&H Publishing Group. Kindle Edition.
- I've found the topic of holiness confronting. I don't spend much time thinking about God's holiness and I think I instinctively see God's holiness as threatening. I haven't acclimated to the lofty heights of the topic of God's holiness, I hope as read on I develop some altitude fitness. Jackie's style, the way she plays with words and syntax causes me to slow down and reread sections. I've enjoyed this and found it refreshing, but I also think it helpfully puts me in a state of mind where I'm think slowly and carefully. Here is a quote I appeciate for its fundamental nature. "The soil from which all sin grows is unbelief... the sin begetting all others is a specific belief about about God."
