I had such a wonderful Christmas. We rented an Airbnb up in St. Augustine. Both of my sons were there along with my daughter in law, three granddaughters, my daughter in law’s mother, sister, and sister’s finance. It was very cold, and I had to buy a few items that I never thought you would need in Florida (gloves and a warm hat)! I live in Florida for a reason. I love the heat! I have to say the cold weather was a nice change for Christmas. We were only up there for three days, but it was nice to just get away. My granddaughters were so much fun, and I got to pass on another family tradition. Christmas Eve when we were outside looking at lights I looked up in the sky and what did I see but Rudolph’s blinking nose leading the sleigh with Santa. I had my granddaughters look up and they got so excited. We could not see Santa, but you could most definitely see Rudolph’s blinking nose. Every year when my kids were young, I would take them outside and we would look up and sure enough we would see Rudolph’s nose blinking in the night. They would run inside to jump into their beds so that Santa would come to their house. What they did not know until they got older was Rudolph’s blinking nose was really the red flashing light on a plane flying over our house.
I just love how children’s minds are so open to believing. If we as adults could be so open, then maybe we could see Jesus like they do. So pure and innocent. Doesn’t the bible tell us to have faith like a child? Now I am not telling you to be easily fooled or led astray like children can be. What I am saying is we need to trust our Father in heaven just as children trust. We need to except his gifts with pure joy and happiness like children do on Christmas morning. Children are teachable and they are humble, so we need to be more like them. Matthew 18:3-4 “Truly, I say to you, unless you turn and become like children, you will never enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever humbles himself like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven.
Let this season of Jesus birth be a reminder that just like a child we need to follow Jesus with trust that our heavenly Father knows what is best for us and will not lead us astray.
I hope you all have a wonderful New Years and lets make Jesus a priority in our lives in 2023!
