God performs a miracle through Peter and John, healing a man who couldn’t walk and stirring up controversy; in the resulting confrontation with the Jewish leaders, Peter and John respond with boldness!
But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit comes on you. Then you will tell people about me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria. And you will even tell other people about me from one end of the earth to the other.
Acts 1:8 (NIrV)

Why didn’t the leaders punish John and Peter?
What does it mean to be bold?
Why might we need the Holy Spirit to help us to be bold when sharing Jesus?

Make a Vlog!
In this week’s Bible story, Peter and John put their faith on display by walking around telling people about Jesus—and performing a miracle! In Bible times, walking around and talking to people was the best way to communicate Jesus’ truth, but today, we have so many other ways to tell the world about Him! For this activity, your child will make a fun video to put his faith in Jesus on display. This video can be shared with family and friends, or it can be kept for yourselves as a reminder of the amazing things He has done in your lives.
Allow your child to get creative—whether she wants to write a script ahead of time, make a worship music video, or just make a storytelling video and improvise! Encourage your child to think of any parts of God’s big story she can remember. This could include the miracles Jesus performed or how God gave the Holy Spirit. She can also think of stories or details from her own life that show God’s goodness. Be as simple or elaborate as you’d like. Whether it’s serious or goofy, creating this video will serve as a great way to get your child talking about Jesus!

Going Places!
In our Word of Wonder, we read that the Holy Spirit will give us the boldness to tell of God’s goodness from one end of the earth to the other. To help memorize this verse, say the verse with your children every time you drive together in the car. If you’re going somewhere people will be, this will serve as a reminder not to be shy about Jesus when you’re having conversations with others. If you’re driving home, it will serve as a reminder that the Holy Spirit is with you even in the quiet of your own home, when no one is looking.
To build on this, consider playing “This I Believe” by Shane & Shane (from the Power of the Spirit playlists) after reading the verse. This will be an incredible time to reflect together on the significance of this verse, as well as praising God for His gift of the Holy Spirit!
