Three young ladies are scheduled for baptism this Sunday at 11. Be in prayer for Shawn Kelly Shafer, Elizah Nicole Odom, and Fayth Nevaeh Chamberlain!
I will be preaching on Witnessing and our Testimony, what an appropriate topic in our series on being fruitful.
Baptismal immersion is a great witness, as it is a picture of
1) God the Father washing away our sins
2) God the Son, showing the death, burial and resurrection
3) God the Spirit, we are immersed into Him and His Spirit into us
Since Jesus was baptized by immersion, and since He commanded us to do likewise, it reminds us
4) to do what Jesus did and
5) do what Jesus said.
1) "And now why are you waiting? Arise and be baptized, and wash away your sins, calling on the name of the Lord." Ananias to Saul, who became Paul, Acts 22:16
2) Therefore we were buried with Him through baptism into death, that just as Christ was raised from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life. Rom. 6:4
3) “Can anyone forbid water, that these should not be baptized who have received the Holy Spirit just as we have?” Acts 10:47
4) Then Jesus came from Galilee to John at the Jordan to be baptized by him. And John tried to prevent Him, saying, “I need to be baptized by You, and are You coming to me?” But Jesus answered and said to him, “Permit it to be so now, for thus it is fitting for us to fulfill all righteousness.” Then he allowed Him. Matthew 3:13-15
5) "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit..." Matt. 28:19
