Pastor Kennard Weever
Theme: Raising the Standards
Series: Friendsgiving
Sermon: Thank You, God
Scriptures: Jeremiah 29:15-19 and 1 Thessalonians 5:16
The Children of Israel were in exile, Babylonian Captivity, for seventy years. God made provisions for them during their time in captivity. God tried to talk in them, but they didn’t listen. It is our responsibility to listen to God.
God will never leave us or forsake us even if we get on the wrong track and become involved in things that he has never ordained for us. What we consider to be punishment is really God’s protection. Sometimes, he will hide us in order to protect us and save us. God knows the plans that he has for us. He has plans to grow us and to develop us.
1 Thessalonians 5:16 states rejoice always, pray continually, and give thanks in all circumstances for this is God’s will for you in Christ Jesus. We should Rejoice, Pray, and Give Thanks Always even if God tells us no, it doesn’t work out, it is
something that we don’t like, or it is something that we don’t have.
We should be cheerful no matter what. Being cheerful means our “Thank You, God” will become louder than our anxiety and frustration. When you know who you are in Christ, your “Thank You, God” becomes part of who you are. You owe God a big thank you for saving you and keeping you. What are you thankful for? What do you count as a blessing?
