Notes on using a YouTube video:
We wanted to feature a YouTube video in our warmup countdown and I thought I would post up how we accomplished it. It wasn't as straightforward as I thought.
Linking the video proved easy enough, add Web Page (service item) and then pasting the YouTube link yielded a link with autoplay=1. Yay!
But it inserted with a length of 15 seconds and wouldn't budge. So, 15 seconds played then the 1:00 countdown. The length of the video didn't come through or something, so it just put the default in there. To make it play the full length (2:47) we selected "show each slide for" then put in 2:47. It worked!
I have my fingers crossed that an add doesn't pop up. I used a link that appears to not be monetized, so I hope that works.
I noted somewhere in the process that links to Vimeo won't work. That probably needs fixed to make sure that ads never pop up.
- Yea with youtube's ad policy and embed code its better and safer to find a way to have a downloaded version. For my church with larger videos I like to upload them to proclaim but kept on the media computer only. And after the video has served its purpose I remove it from everywhere.
- I use the clipgrab program. With the permission of the owner, I download the video and play it with in proclaim. This way ive got the MP4 video file and can control it without youtube interference
- , Clipgrab is the bomb! Best free app I've used since Notepad++. :HMM Well, Canva blows even them away, but it's free for the fact it's for church non-profit. Anyway, great suggestion. Playing the video Clipgrab produces is full quality and completely trouble free in Proclaim! One small complaint. It wants to install other "free" stuff like anti-virus which I declined, but now I have McAfee saying my install isn't complete. Since I have never had McAfee I now have to track that down and uninstall it. That may have been my fault for not paying better attention in the installation process though. Maybe I missed an opt out screen somewhere.
