Tommie Harms in Logos Search

I am a small group leader looking for a study on the practice of the Sabbath. The participants are unfamiliar with the term, but are interested in a deeper understanding of why God considered it necessary.

Tommie Harms, what interpretive perspective are you coming from? We have a wealth of material on the Sabbath, but there are a number of different perspectives on it: 1. It continues along with the rest of the Mosaic law and should still be observed on Saturday (Judaism, Messianic Judaism, Seventh-Day Baptists, Seventh-Day Adventists, Hebrew Roots movement). 2. It continues along with the rest of the moral law, but it's been transformed into the Lord's Day and is to be observed on Sunday (Catholic, Orthodox, many Reformed, and other Protestant denominations). 3. It has been fulfilled in Christ, who is our Sabbath rest (some Reformed, Progressive Covenantalists, some Dispensationalists)—or simply isn't relevant for the church (other Dispensationalists). Are you looking for a general overview that lays out the various viewpoints, or are you looking for something that fits more into one of these interpretative streams?
