Exodus 19 shows us what happens when the holy God comes down to meet his people: he reveals their identity, calls them to prepare, and manifests his presence in awe-inspiring glory. But the distance at Sinai points us to a greater mediator in Jesus, who brings us not to fear and boundaries, but to joyful access at the heavenly Mount Zion.
