Francisco de Osuna (c. 1492–c. 1540), Spanish Franciscan and mystic, wrote a series of maxims as a practical guide for recollection. These were arranged into a series of “spiritual alphabets,” this being the third.

Francisco of Osuna, (1492 or 1497 – c. 1540), was a Spanish Franciscan friar. He wrote some of the most influential works on spirituality there in the sixteenth century. His writings, specificallyThe Third Spiritual Alphabet, influenced Saint Teresa of Jesus.
