Second Timothy: Notes on Grammar, Syntax, and Structure

I found it very, very basic and returned it. The author does a sort of outline, but it's very basic, not particularly insightful. He makes observations about syntax that are very obvious -- at least to me, after 40+ years of reading the Greek text. I was going to get an example, but I see Logos has already removed the resource. But he'll say either this or very like this: "Nominative, because he is the author of the letter." Yes, right. "Nominative, because it is the subject of the clause." Uh huh, yes, nominative does do that. "Relates to the previous clause." Yes, I see that; that's what conjunctions do. And...? And so forth. He rewords the Greek, but again not to any great illumination. No great insights, no useful appeal to grammars; just almost the sorts of notes one would make in his first pass over the Greek text in beginning exegesis. "Pronoun fronted." Right, it sure is. Not worth the $16 pre-pub price, let alone $20. Maybe if a student were just beginning Greek and didn't have any other commentaries, it might be a start. But in that case, I'd just say get a good commentary, like Knight's, or Towner's, or Mounce's, or a half-dozen others.
