The Holy Spirit in the New Testament: A Study of Primitive Christian Teaching

Henry Barclay Swete wrote The Holy Spirit in the New Testament: A Study of Primitive Christian Teaching in order to illustrate the historical and experiential context of the first Christian teachers and writers in relation to the Holy Spirit. His hope was that the reader could gain an understanding of what “the presence and working of the Spirit of Christ meant to the first generation of believers.” This volume contains three parts: “The Holy Spirit in the History of the New Testament,” “The Holy Spirit in the Teaching of the New Testament,” and “Summary of the New Testament Doctrine of the Holy Spirit.”
