Bishop Lightfoot

This sketch of Bishop Lightfoot was originally published in the Quarterly Review in January 1893. Joseph Lightfoot was a theologian, biblical scholar, and friend of B. F. Westcott, who preceded him in the office of Bishop of Durham. Westcott writes a prefatory note to this remembrance of Lightfoot’s life and work that sheds light on both their relationship and Lightfoot’s legacy.
