Herschel Hobbs Commentary: Bible Studies for Life, Summer 2015

This quarter’s Study Themes are: Be Strong and Courageous: Leadership Lessons from Joshua Everybody is a leader in some capacity. Some of us carry a title that communicates leadership—boss, manager, supervisor, pastor—and all of us lead through our influence and example to others. God’s principles in this 6-session study that were modeled by Joshua speak to all of us, regardless of the size and scope of our influence and leadership. Awake: The Call to a Renewed Life This 6-session study is important because the church in America needs revival. The average Christian may not see revival and spiritual renewal as a felt need in his or her life. But this study can open one’s eyes to see that all persons should examine themselves and consider where they stand in their walk and commitment to Christ. Hospitality: How Ordinary People Can Live on Mission We love to share a meal with others. An enjoyable or memorable meal is not about the food itself, it is about the company and the shared experience. This Special Focus Session shows us meals were a major part of many events in the Bible, and meals are a way of sharing life together. Jesus spoke of the blessing of being hospitable and inviting others to share a meal. “Let’s do lunch” can be another way of saying “Let’s do mission.” The Herschel Hobbs Commentary is designed for group leaders and group members who desire a more extensive exposition of the Bible passages in LifeWay’s Bible Study for Life series. Based on the King James Version of the Bible, The Herschel Hobbs Commentary can be used with all major modern English translations.
