This volume is a study of the early church and the apostolic tradition according to the texts of St. Hippolytus, perhaps one of the most illuminating and direct evidences for the religious polity and ecclesiastical practices of the ancient Christians. Dom Gregory Dix provides a lengthy introduction to provide background and context, while a thorough commentary and critical apparatus assists the reader with the Greek text of the Apostolic Tradition.
