Fragile to Fearless: How Beth Moore Conquered Insecurity

From her earliest childhood memories, Beth Moore says she was blessed with a passionate love for Jesus Christ. The portrait of the kind and gentle savior taught to her in her Sunday-school classes would sustain her through a troubled childhood that included incidents of sexual abuse. With God’s help, and her remarkable will, Moore faced her past and has gone on to be an internationally renowned Bible-study teacher, best-selling author, and a steadfast advocate for empowering women.

Ruins of the Rebuilt Temple

The Jerusalem temple that tourists visit today isn’t the temple we read about in most of the Bible. Archaeologists say it’s not Solomon’s temple, or the temple rebuilt by Jewish people living during Ezra’s lifetime, nor is it Herod’s.

The Romans destroyed Herod’s Temple in 70 AD, along with the portions rebuilt during the time of Ezra. All that is left is the Western Wall, which, according to Dr. Frederick E. Greenspahn is actually a retaining wall that held up the platform the Temple would have stood upon.

3 Voices: 1 Message

Like Lord of the Rings and The Matrix, the books of Chronicles, Ezra and Nehemiah tell an extended story, divided into three parts. While they can be read together, ancient evidence tells us the works were originally one composition.

Some modern bibles recognize their unity and present them as a single book. The Modern Reader’s Bible combines these books into “The Chronicles.” These books have a single message: God must be worshipped on His own terms—He commands when, where and how.
