    Hungry Babies
Craving pure spiritual milk is what we should see when someone is really born again into the new life of Christ. When we are born again, we naturally hunger to be filled with the things of Jesus! To continue Peter’s food/eating analogy, it is clear that malice, deceit, hypocrisy, envy and slander will spoil our appetite for real nourishment. Therefore...
In the first part of chapter 1, we see that we have been chosen by God, selected for salvation for the purpose of obedience to Jesus Christ. This new birth is into hope through Jesus and into an eternal inheritance that is already stored for us in Heaven, imperishable and eternal. We are reminded that we are protected for all time by God! Peter commends those who have faith in Jesus even though they (we!) have not personally seen the Christ. Therefore…! That is, knowing all this, here is what we should do. This is the soundest of advice and the best of plans. This is the most reliable information from the most trusted source. Available to us right now and always. Doing the right work at the right time.
The fact of it is that when we follow Jesus, we will face opposition. Even in our American society, where it is painfully easy to be a Christian. To be clear, I believe our collective faith is likely much weaker because we do not face challenges. We don’t have to work at our faith and sin is even easier. We are floating down a lazy river where we have to do very little to survive, and the idea of thriving has become so corrupted that we choose the world’s version of what this means over what God says it is to live a rich life. Playing the long game
Everything that Jesus did was on purpose. It was perfectly conceived and perfectly iterated. It was flawless obedience to the Father. It was utterly in line with the heart of God. He always did the next right thing. Anything that Jesus did to prepare was perfect in its preparation. In the way he prayed. In the way he interacted with his disciples. In the way he ministered. Perfectly timed. Perfectly rendered. It was as if he knew that his Father’s ways were not only perfect, but apparent. Hmmm. Might be something here for us. Not all “wisdom” is the same…
James, written by the half-brother of Jesus. Known as the Proverbs of the New Testament or Wisdom Literature of the New Testament. Easy to understand. Practical, applied Christianity. Meaty, and nourishing for the man or woman of God who wants to grow spiritual muscles and use these muscles for good. James, written by the half-brother of Jesus. Divine Doer’s
We are physical beings. In fact, it is what we know more about than anything else in the world. We inhabit our bodies, we exist in time and in a particular space and we “do” as we exist. Our lives are literally defined by our actions. Some are mundane. Some are profound. But, we “do”. We are designed for the work of being human. Our literal existence is defined by the actions we take as physical beings. CCLI Copyright License 11107056 CCLI Streaming License CSPL085064

Let us/let us not - discriminate
If I were to ask almost any sibling set if they thought their parent or parents had a favorite, many would answer with a resounding “yes!” You might be willing to say which one is the favored son or daughter and even have several examples at the ready. This is very common. Honestly, in my experience, it isn’t a thing to say you love one of your kids more than another. It is easy and natural to fully love each of your kids to the core.
