- As of right now, power is still out at the church building. The plan for tomorrow is as follows: We will still be having our worship service at 10 o'clock. If the power hasn't come back on, we'll meet in the Fellowship Hall where there is plenty of natural light and room for us to gather, sing, pray, and open the Word together. We will not be having Sunday School classes though.
- Question for discussion - WHO are we being discipled by? Discipleship isn't really an option; it isn't a conscious binary switch that we flip on of off. We are all being discipled by someone or something. If we haven't made the conscious decision to follow Jesus in every area of our lives, we end up drifting towards something that will eventually influence our hearts. Who or what will it be? Here's a quick read from an article on Discipleship.org to illustrate the point - https://discipleship.org/bobbys-blog/culture-disciples-us/ .How Our Culture Disciples Us—Away from Jesus - Discipleship.orgDiscipleship-First Friends, The church is getting an urgent wakeup call. - This article made me think of the State of Theology link that was included in Friday’s newsletter. It’s pretty interesting (and sad) to compare the results of that study from this year to previous years, and see where the Church is being shaped by the culture around it. Also a reminder of the chapter for this week - association. Jesus spent all that time around His followers and the result was they ended up being different than the rest of the culture around them. There’s a lot to think about there! Thanks for the article Trevor!
