Proclaim

I see someone had a similar experience to mine on playing videos through Proclaim while live streaming. Our videos played, but they aren't playing smoothly. We are trying to livestream through ManyCam, but also include Zoom, so, there's a lot going on. I've tried several things to get the video to play more smoothly (You can see it at https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0G0j1zbT1q0 at around the 40 minute mark). I'm sure a faster computer would help, but I'm using a laptop with an i7 and 16 gig ram. The computer is from 2016...so...I'm thinking a 6th generation i7. I'm not sure if a new computer is needed, or if there is something I can do in Proclaim to speed things up. I've tried different video formats and various qualities, but nothing seems to make the video smoother. There's also an audio delay but I may be able to address that in the ManyCam software. Thanks for any insight!

. I worked on this issue this morning. I'm sure you are right. I've felt that ManyCam uses more resources than OBS and it is probably the graphic card taking the brunt, but I'm using a laptop, so not too many options. If anyone is interested, I was able to use OBS as a virtual camera into a Zoom session. The "normal" way of doing this doesn't work because of Zoom updates, but the OBS forums mentioned a work around that works better than the original way. The video is fairly smooth when using Proclaim as a source in OBS. I still have a few tests to run to get everything up to speed, but being able to use OBS as a virtual camera into Zoom (so those helping with the service via Zoom can see what's going on with the streaming feed without delay) will, hopefully, work well. I hate trying this stuff out on Easter...but that's kind of where things are. :)

Just to report back for anybody who is interested:

seems to be a CPU load. When I run OBS the GPU is at about 80% utilization. That's about the same as ManyCam (79%). The CPU is at 65-70% for OBS and about 80-95% under ManyCam. I think OBS takes up less resources than ManyCam and is why I wanted to use it. The advantage of ManyCam is the ability to use iOS and Android devices as remote cameras. I'm looking into NDI which may allow iOS as remote cameras. NDI is what allows OBS to be used as a virtual camera for streaming (Zoom, OBS, Microsoft Teams, etc).

I used to use a program called Switcher that was awesome, but it might only be for iOS devices. I also downloaded Streamlabs OBS and it's much friendlier than OBS itself. I do not envy you all with multi-cam setups! It's been difficult enough for me to get smooth videos playing through Proclaim using just a single webcam into my MB Pro. I have also discovered that Zoom's "Optimize video for full screen" option helps tremendously. Through all of this, Proclaim has become my workhorse. I'm using the program as my media center, basically, routing everything to it and sharing its on-air screen with Zoom. If Proclaim added multi-cam support and audio routing, amazing things could happen and we could all avoid OBS. :-D As it is, I am thankful for Proclaim. Thanks, developers!
