Looking for ideas to help sight impaired person.
I received a request from someone in our congregation who is sight impaired needing help to see the lyrics during our service. They can only see things up close and in large print. My first suggestion was a printed lyrics sheets, but they said it was too dark in the room to use printed material. They are hoping we could provide the lyrics on an iPad for them in large print.
I thought about exporting the presentation as a PowerPoint or even individual slides, but don't see that option in Proclaim. I then experimented with using the "print presentation" feature. I thought I could print the presentation as PDF and send that to the person, but this prints multiple slides on the same page. The "print" feature does have a "play" feature that allows someone to advance through each slide, but it appears that this isn't something that can be shared with someone else other than the Proclaim user.
So, does anyone have any ideas or is anyone aware of something I could use in Proclaim to help these vision impaired people? Even a way to share that "play" function from the "print presentation" page might be a good solution.
Thank you!
- Rev Rod, I'll give this a try. Thanks for the suggestion. I did discover that I can add a new user to our presentation team and then they have access to the files area on the web. This will allow them to see all the slides in a web browser. The only drawback is I can't give a user view-only permissions. They do have the ability to delete the presentation. That could cause some problems. If only there was a way to add view-only people to our team, this would solve our problem.
- What Rev Rod and Mike Binks said. I use an iPad with Confidence screen and the simple black on white text is very helpful to cut through the clutter of background etc. A couple of things: 1) Videos don't do well on the Confidence Screen, so a countdown video we use never shows up on the Confidence Screen, it just goes black. 2) Images still just show up as images ... we often use Canva to create some announcement slides. You might need to add some text for the Confidence Screen only
- John Albers. You can create custom confidence templates that can be set on each slide. We created a confidence template with the video player only it. Edit you slide (confidence screen) to the alternate template. This way the video will show.
