Digital Logos Edition
Sleep in the Bible has received relatively little scholarly attention. Yet, upon a close reading, an intriguing set of issues related to sleep in the Old Testament begins to emerge. Sleep, Divine and Human, in the Old Testament provides an introduction to sleep in the Old Testament, sketches out the context in which sleeping is noteworthy or remarkable, and surveys the scholarship in the field. McAlpine examines lexical questions, cultural patterns, Israelite understandings of sleep, and the connection between sleep and the divine.
In the Logos edition, all Scripture references in Sleep, Divine and Human, in the Old Testament link to the original language texts and the Bibles in your library.
