Digital Logos Edition
Though The Christian Year may be his most popular work, Keble was a prolific writer who contributed to the Oxford Movement with his lesser-known books as well. This collection’s three volumes cover theological topics that he found particularly relevant to the church.
In On Eucharistical Adoration, Keble addresses the worship of God in the sacrament of Holy Communion. Using vivid illustrations and analogies, he explains the special adoration that is present during this sacrament. He supports his position with evidence from Holy Scripture and the Church Fathers, councils, and traditions. Studia Sacra is a compilation of shorter writings, including Keble’s commentary on portions of St. John’s Gospel and St. Paul’s Epistle to the Romans, as well as other early theological works and notes on Scripture.
In the final work of this collection, Keble undertakes the challenge of translating the force and feeling of the original Hebrew into his own version of The Psalter for use in congregational singing. These works are representative of the detailed exposition and poetic voice for which Keble is best remembered.
The Logos version integrates seamlessly into your personal digital library and allows you to access dictionaries and other reference resources with a click. Read your preferred Scripture translation alongside the Select Works of John Keble for a more robust understanding of his elegant writing.
