Without any reservation, I can say that this is the most theologically sound, thorough, and practical understanding of John’s revelatory experience at Patmos by which I’ve been enabled to encounter Jesus Christ in the apocalypse described by the book of Revelation. The author, Shane J. Wood, articulates clearly, concisely, and personally— avoiding technical jargon—precisely calling our attention to the invitation given and invocation expressed by the Revelation of Jesus Christ as the message of John’s Revelation. The author also has provided a very specific and practicable follow up for each chapter, helping the reader to fully engage the Revelation conveyed by the Apostle John… a deeply personal, loving, comforting, and necessary confrontation for transformation made possible by a “thinning of the veil”… revealing God’s pursuit of humanity in opposition to our brokenness.
