Control of PTZ cameras from Proclaim
The ability to control PTZ cameras from Proclaim using midi commands is a real help to us in minimizing the number of people needed on the team each week. Unfortunately, with PTZ Optics cameras at least, the process for actually transmitting the midi commands is a bit convoluted and needs two intermediary bits of software, and we haven't had a service yet when the chain has broken down at some point and we have had to revert to manual camera control.
Increasingly, cameras and other devices are now controllable using html strings, and these don't require any additional software to work. I can successfully control the camera positioning using the Proclaim Web Page item, but unfortunately, as there is no background override for that, it means that the camera stream cuts out for 1s, the minimum time that can be set for auto advance. This doesn't happen when using Proclaim to stream the video, of course, but for operational and performance reasons we are using an Atem Mini Pro for the camera input and switching, and just using Proclaim for lower thirds etc. Is there another way of sending html strings, and/or is it possible to add a background to the Web Page item, or might it be possible to add html strings as an additional option to the Scene Controls one day, perhaps? I think this would be a great investment, but then I would do, of course!
Many thanks! Adrian
- Thanks, Steven - yes, I can get it to work with midi, but it needs the loopbe1 virtual midi driver and the PTZ Midi Controller app to sit in between Proclaim and the camera(s). If we could send html code directly from Proclaim to the camera it would eliminate some of the excitement that we currently get from not knowing if it is actually going to work at any given scene change :-)

We also use MIDI to recall camera presets (stored in vMix, not the camera). It would be great to be able to use HTTP commands directly out of Proclaim, as a Signal on a slide or Stage Direction cue. There is a Web Address option in Signals, but the last time I tried using that to control a camera it didn’t work.- Hi Mark - perhaps see this thread: https://faithlife.com/posts/4010551 I couldn't get the html command in Signals to work either but I'm not sure that's entirely what Signals are for? I've never actually used them but they look to be for targeting information for people with the app rather than for control
