- https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.12.13-18.NLT Words can be very revealing. They expose the soul. Scripture says that out of the heart, the mouth speaks. Words can come back to bite us. We should never say something we don’t want the world to know. The mind is the only vault impregnable to the world but not from God! He even knows our thoughts before they are even uttered from our mouths. We may be able to keep our mouths shut and fool people but we will never fool God. Words can bring life or bring death. Those with regard for others take great care in the words they speak. They do not speak idly. Jesus said we will give an account for ever idle word we speak. Words can be an instrument of healing or an instrument of death. The bent of your heart will be revealed by your words. As words are reflective of the heart, a ‘word’ issue is really a ‘heart’ issue. Change the heart and the words will change. Isn’t that the offer we have from God? Ezekiel 36:26-27-“And I will give you a new heart, and I will put a new spirit in you. I will take out your stony, stubborn heart and give you a tender, responsive heart. And I will put my Spirit in you so that you will follow my decrees and be careful to obey my regulations.” In order for life to flow from us, we must be sourced from the Lord, the Author of life. Without Him, our words will inevitably breed death for that is what resides in our soul without Jesus. Truth! 😊💗Proverbs 12:13-18 The wicked are trapped by their own words, but the godly escape such trouble. Wise words bring many benefits, and hard work brings rewards. - https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.12.9-12.NLT Some people’s self-important arrogance precedes their fall. Don’t think to highly of oneself. Better to be ordinary. The godly have respect for all life but the wicked are always cruel. Being cruel is almost like a sport to them. They willfully cause pain and suffering with no remorse. In all labor there is profit. If you work hard with your hands, your bread basket will always be full. Some dreamers can’t stay put at anything and therefore build no such foundation of provision. Thieves have a insatiable appetite for things and as it has been said, there is no honor among thieves. Stealing is what they do and they will even steal from each other. They have no fruit of their own so they have to steal from others. The godly however, are fruit bearers. The work of their hands always yields a harvest. There is no fear of lack or desire for other people’s stuff because they continually produce their own fruit. 😊💗Proverbs 12:9-12 Better to be an ordinary person with a servant than to be self-important but have no food. - https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.12.5-8.NLT I tend to be a trusting person who believes what people tell me but I have learned that you also have to use discernment. Not everyone is out for our best. There are people who are wicked and advise with treachery and treason in their heart. I think that may have been why Jesus said to be wise as snakes and innocent as doves. The wicked prey on the innocent and unsuspecting so we must use discernment. It never ends well for the wicked but they can do damage on their way out so we must make sure we reside under the protection of the Almighty. Then there are those who are a great blessing in our lives, the ones who will tell us the truth, the ones whose counsel is sound. Keep those people close for the words of the godly save lives. There is an ancient wisdom found in the word of God that preserves the lives of those who value it. The godly have learned this therefore their counsel is trusted and true. They win admiration because of the value they bring to other’s lives. The words and intent of the wicked reveal themselves in time and they are disgraced and despised as a result. We chose who we listen to….choose wisely! 😌💗Proverbs 12:5-8 The plans of the godly are just; the advice of the wicked is treacherous. - https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.12.4.NLT Things always function best when they operate correctly within their design. God had specific purposes intrinsic within the design of male and female. The world is doing its best to blur those lines but when you go back to original design and intent, God said that Adam needed a ‘helper’ suitable for him, someone to come alongside him. Helper is not a bad word. Even the Holy Spirit is referred to as the ‘Helper’. A woman is obviously a great value to a man and provides ‘help’ that he would be lacking otherwise. Women by design are helpers by nature. A good wife is certainly a crown to her husband for she adds value to him. The disgraceful woman is another story….she takes value from a man. A man can build his kingdom but a disgraceful wife can tear it down. We have various examples of such women in the Bible; Potiphar’s wife, Delilah, Jezebel, and Herodias come to mind. These women were serious cancers to their man’s life. Not really how I would like to be remembered😬 I have always said that when I get to heaven, God is not going to ask me about how my husband treated me but rather about how I treated him. My job is to be a help to my husband, to be a mother and grandmother to my kids and grandkids, as the pastor’s wife to help at our church, and most importantly to be a daughter of the King!!!! 😊💗Proverbs 12:4 A worthy wife is a crown for her husband, but a disgraceful woman is like cancer in his bones. | New Living Translation (NLT) | Download The Bible App NowA worthy wife is a crown for her husband, but a disgraceful woman is like cancer in his bones.bible.com
- https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.12.1-3.NLT The word ‘discipline is all throughout Proverbs and is a key character trait needed to be successful. To learn, we must love discipline because it takes discipline to learn. And I don’t know any of us who likes to be corrected but we should treasure those willing to take the time to point something out to us. We all have blind spots and if we are willing to listen to others, we will be better off because of it. Up until recently, I used to think people were inherently good, maybe misguided or confused at times, but that there was good in everyone. But it has become very clear that there are people who plan wickedness. These people aren’t just caught up in sin, they live for it. They have sold their souls to the devil and make it their business to steal, kill, and destroy, just like their father, the devil. Jesus ran into such people in His day as well and called them out. It didn’t make Him the most popular which is why they wanted to kill Him. The Lord condemns such people. Wickedness never brings stability because it is goes against everything God is. To choose wickedness is to choose to be an enemy of God and that person’s days are numbered. The godly, however, have deep roots that keep them stable through the storms of life. Their anchor is fastened to God who is never moved and because they are latched on to Him, they shall not be moved. God is the only One who brings chaos to order. It will happen one way or another. Either the wicked get it right or they will be removed. Not my words…His! 😌💗Proverbs 12:1-3 To learn, you must love discipline; it is stupid to hate correction. - https://bible.com/bible/100/pro.11.30-31.NASB1995 A couple of powerful yet sobering verses. The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life. Life emanates from their being because they are connected to the Source of life. He who is wise wins souls! The best thing and the only things we can bring with us to heaven is souls! Our lives should be about telling His story and bringing as many with us as we can. People need to hear the Message of salvation. Let the redeemed of the Lord say so! The righteous will be rewarded here on earth. Even Jesus said, “I assure you that everyone who has given up house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or property, for My sake and for the Good News, will receive now in return a hundred times as many houses, brothers, sisters, mothers, children, and property - along with persecution. And in the world to come that person will have eternal life.“(Mark 10:29-30) If the righteous are rewarded for their righteousness, here in this life, how much more do you think the wicked and the sinner are for their wickedness?! In the Kingdom of God, the more you give, the more that comes your way for you can’t out-give God. However the wicked is in the business of taking and they get nothing in return but poverty and judgment. Let’s tell others about Jesus so they can experience the only life that is truly life! Happy Sunday all! Headed to church…see you there! 😊💗Proverbs 11:30-31 The fruit of the righteous is a tree of life, And he who is wise wins souls. - https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.11.29.NLT God put us in our families for a reason. To bring trouble on our family is to possibly frustrate the plan of God in our lives. There are no perfect families yet I have found that we are uniquely equipped to help and challenge each other in ways that build our character. Just because family members are challenging doesn’t mean it is a bad thing. The second part of this Proverb is true beyond words. The wise exercise discipline which is needed to be successful in life where as the fool scoffs at such discipline. As a result it is inevitable that the fool will be a servant to the wise. Wisdom helps one be successful where as being a fool yields hardships, and puts them at the mercy of others charity. They often will serve the wise to make ends meet. 😌💗Proverbs 11:29 Those who bring trouble on their families inherit the wind. - https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.11.28.NLT For some, money is their fortress. They think it is an impenetrable wall that protects them from all things. Such is not the case however. There is a reason why Jesus said that you can’t serve God and money. Money is most definitely a ‘god’ in this world and to serve it is idolatry. God even refers to it as adultery. To trust in money is to not trust in God. Money fails, investments fail, but God does not. He is a sure foundation. People think that money is the answer to all their problems and will even steal, cheat and kill to get it. Money should never be the focus. It is a useful tool and Jesus even said to “Use your worldly resources to benefit others and make friends. Then, when your possessions are gone, they will welcome you to an eternal home.” (Luke 16:9) We are to use well what we have to benefit others. The promise in this verse also paints a picture of what the godly are like. They flourish like Spring leaves. It always amazes me how a tree in Spring time can transform in just a few days. Amazing how a tree can look dead and then pop out life everywhere. Life is full of seasons and no season last forever which is why it is important to recognize what season we are in and utilize our resources to help and benefit others. When we approach life this way, we will find our resources never run dry. God rewards the righteous here on earth and in heaven. 😊💗Proverbs 11:28 Trust in your money and down you go! - https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.11.27.NLT What are we searching for? This is an interesting tidbit in that to walk a path of righteousness, we have to be purposeful and active in our search for good, which will yield favor upon our lives. When it comes to evil, however, if we are bent even in the slightest way in its direction, it will find us! In fact, it seems evil is just waiting for the opportunity. As in the words God spoke to Cain in Genesis 4:7, “You will be accepted if you do what is right. But if you refuse to do what is right, then watch out! Sin is crouching at the door, eager to control you. But you must subdue it and be it’s master.” It is almost as if sin waits to ambush us. This world we live in is bent toward evil because of who runs it - the devil. There is a massive exposure happening right now in our country and in the world revealing the evil that has been at work, behind the scenes. I am not sure we are ready for what is about to be uncovered when we discover the depths of depravity that man is capable of. Whether we didn’t see it before or chose not to see it, it is coming out for all to see because I believe God is uncovering it. Massive repentance and sorrow is on the horizon for what has been happening right under our noses. How many children have been trafficked and for what purposes? It takes a special kind of evil to go after the most innocent. I believe Jesus stated that it would be better for one to have a millstone tied around their neck and be drowned in the depths of the sea than to cause harm to one of his little ones! To walk a path of righteousness is to swim upstream and takes effort. No such effort is needed to do evil as all one has to do is just go with the tide. You ever wonder why it seems so hard to do what is right? It takes more effort because you are fighting an undercurrent that is trying to push you in the opposite direction. We each have to fight for our relationship with God in our search for good because we live in hostile, occupied territory because of what satan did in the garden. We have dominion over him because of our relationship with Christ but it is an authority we must exercise at all times for the devil is always looking for a way to take us down. As Jesus opposed him by saying, “It is written,” so must we! In order to do that, we must know what is written. 😉 As God told Joshua in Joshua 1:8, “Study the Book of instruction continually. Meditate on it day and night so you will be sure to obey everything written in it. Only then will you prosper and succeed in all you do.” 😊💗Proverbs 11:27 If you search for good, you will find favor; but if you search for evil, it will find you! | New Living Translation (NLT) | Download The Bible App NowIf you search for good, you will find favor; but if you search for evil, it will find you!bible.com
- https://bible.com/bible/116/pro.11.24-26.NLT God calls us to be a generous people because we are to be like Him who has displayed ultimate generosity. What do we have that He hasn’t given us? Our very life is a gift from Him. Our gift back to Him is what we do with it. There are certain principles that God established from the beginning of time and they are more true than the law of gravity. Jesus reiterated this particular principle in Proverbs when He said in Luke 6:38, “Give, and you will receive. Your gift will return to you in full - pressed down, shaken to make room for more, running over, and poured into your lap. The amount you give will determine the amount you get back.” We can operate in God’s kingdom economy that is backed by the word of the King, being Jesus, and filled with abundance, or we can operate in the world’s system and economy that is filled with risk and run by satan. Jesus said the He had come to give us life and life abundantly whereas the devil had come to steal, kill and destroy. Which kingdom would we rather operate in? The choice is ours. Just as nations have laws that guide their land, constitutions if you will, so does the Kingdom of God. The Bible is its constitution and to operate freely in it, we must be familiar with it. Why not take some time each day to become familiar with the inheritance left to you by the King of kings? You will not ever regret that decision. 😊💗Proverbs 11:24-26 Give freely and become more wealthy; be stingy and lose everything.
